What is, and how does one develop and fine-tune taste?
This is the question that the Selleb Sisters have been trying to answer.
Our sister journey began with fashion front and center. As hardcore musicians (Chloe violinist/Claire cellist), the thrill of performing and competing wasn't just about the way we delivered sound. It was a visual undertaking, too — an opportunity for us to express ourselves through what we wore during our performances. We marched onto the stage in audacious mini dresses and goth chunky boots. We sometimes wondered… was it our choice of armor that won us musical accolades? Who knows, but they sure remembered us.
This creativity spilled into personal blogs where we chronicled favorite finds and fits with our readers during our teen years. To support our blogs, we’d spend weekends side-by-side at Salvation Army, sifting through mounds of clothing strewn on the floor and finding hidden gems for pennies on the dollar. A defining moment was discovering a Roberto Cavalli blouse on a 69-cent Saturday and flipping it on Poshmark for $250. We thrived on the thrill of sharing our discoveries with an eager audience and amassed over 650K devoted followers on Poshmark over the next five years.
Becoming master thrifters/flippers in the secondhand space would embolden us to try on different hats in fashion: fashion columnists for our high school newspaper, influencers with corporate sponsorships, online boutique owners, fashion interns, research assistant at a fashion NGO, and even a fashion model. Don’t ask about the instruments :)
Fast-forward to 2024: We’ve come full circle trying to answer the question that spawned a whole lifetime of discovery.
We believe that great taste starts with honest, real inputs that reflect who you are at the core.
