This week, we’re finding inspo in something old…
Nothing raises our fashion antennae quite like stumbling upon the unexpected, a visual knock-me-off-the-rockers moment that nudges us to step up/shake up our style game. Well, that moment reared its pretty head in our mom’s closet this weekend…
For reference, she is a Marie Kondo convert who donates/sells stuff from her closet all too indiscriminately. And yet… What are these Orla Kiely bags still doing in here?
Does anyone else remember this darling brand from the noughties? The titular Irish fashion designer?? The “Queen of prints” who infused frivolity into the fashion scene and became a CELEB fav???

Alexa Chung (via Vogue)

A reminder that old fashion items do become exotic AGAIN by virtue of their prolonged absence, and Orla Kiely bags were no exception. If history is any indicator, fashion-forward is almost always rooted in the seeds of regression… Will Orla Kiely be another case of the present sprouting from the past? You read it here first…
Absolutely obsessed with the shape of this bag:

Chloe took her out for a spin this morning.
We mentioned Gem, a secondhand search engine last week — Look what comes up if you search “Orla Kiely.” Definitely pocketbook-friendly… in more ways than one.

Up for grabs!!!
Alexa’s dress from above here. Similar bag as our mom’s here for $40 (THESE COLORS OMG). Another really cool bag here.
As per tradition, we look at fav purchases, items in our cart, and ofc SALES you need to know about.
FAV Purchases
Un-gatekeeping one of our most sacred tricks for scoring cheap (but not cheaply made!) designer pants (think under $10…) On The RealReal ofc. For the record, the “pants” category on TRR has the most # of price discrepancies. 1) Filter by “Pants” 2) Filter by your size 3) Select low to high. 4) Scroll!! Major steals. Kick it up a notch and filter by your favorite brands. You can get as much as 80% off bc if items stay on the market long enough without selling, prices are reduced further weekly.
Featuring 5 pairs of pants we’ve scored via the above searching and filtering method. Hope this can ease your shopping journey.
R13: The COOLEST cut and got them like-new for $64… Prices for R13 jeans start at $8, you’re welcome ;)

Claire styling these for winter

Chloé: Another win for $44. Case closed. Prices for Chloé pants start at $12. Not ok (but ok for buyers ;)).

Claire’s go-to pants in the fall

Theory: Theory is one of our fav work pants brands on The RealReal. Got these for $25. Prices for Theory pants start at $9. Don’t be afraid to bulk order and do a try-on to ensure a perfect fit.

Chloe wore these to a popup at Club Vintage!

Veronica Beard: The best pair of white denim in our closet, snagged for $64 (and they were new season for $350!). Prices for Veronica Beard jeans starting at $9.

Christian Dior: Bought 2 pairs recently. Each were ~$100 for amazing condition & perfect fit. Prices for Dior pants start at $50. There are some one-of-a-kind finds…

Items in our cart
Gucci Black Halterneck: 1stDibs is often slept on for secondhand clothes. Maybe bc the platform is known for selling furniture. Maybe bc their clothes are usually more $$$ and often overpriced. Roger Vivier Shoulder Bag: The laissez-faire version of its Fendi and Prada counterparts.
