Hello again! Welcome to the third edition of our "What I Actually Bought” newsletter. You are receiving this because you are a Selleb Loyalist (thank you thank you!) and on the early access waitlist for Selleb 2.0, the anti-gatekeeping app we are currently building. It’s a pivot from Selleb 1.0, a platform where celebs (Sellebs) sold their pre-loved items. Enjoy our weekly newsletter of shopping hacks & discoveries while awaiting our new app launch…
Note on our Referral Program: Pls help us get more friends on the waitlist for Selleb 2.0 by sharing the link below <3 The top 3 people with the highest # of referrals by September 1, 2023 will each receive $1000 in SHOPPING CREDIT on the Selleb app when it goes live. You’ll be able to buy ANY fashion/beauty products. Disclaimer: Referrals must be legitimate e-mail addresses and opened by recipients.
Without further ado, let’s talk shop…
This week, we are spotlighting the less heralded (and most gate-kept) shopping deal apps among the fashion cognoscenti. Most shoppers are familiar with Honey and RetailMeNot, which sometimes pull through with active discount codes but are mostly a hit or miss. We are here to remind you the #1 rule in snatching good deals: Avoid the ones with full-court press and look where most people don’t. Yes, we’re talking about those hush hush sample sales on 3rd floor Chelsea walk-ups on an idle Tuesday….Their internet equivalents??
GEM & DITTO
We are obsessed with these 2 apps.
Last week, we opened the fashion floodgates on these 2 deal hacks over TikTok: Gem and Ditto… and the videos went viral…
Here’s the 411 —
Gem: secondhand search engine where you can set notifications for when YOUR wishlist items hit the market. Gem will scrape through secondhand platforms like TRR, eBay, Poshmark, Vestiaire, etc… to find your dream item. We recommend setting price and size parameters so you only see those gems that fit your budget and body.

Chloe’s current “wishlist” on Gem
Ditto: discount shopping app on steroids. They sell overstock or products that recently underwent re-packaging. Think T.J. Maxx, but trendier Gen Z items. Never pay full-price again for items like Supergoop sunscreen, Gisou hair masks, Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peels, Oribe hair oil, Banza pasta, or Siete tortilla chips. The list goes on…
WTF
FAV Purchases
Beauty of Joseon Sunscreen Stick: Ok we all know that wearing sunscreen is a must, but we find most too greasy/thick/fragrant. We are sensitive! (and picky) but Joseon here is a life-changer. It comes in an easy-to-use stick format (great for throwing in your purse for when you need to re-apply) and has matte texture.

We bought the set that includes a serum to reduce pigmentation.

Matching Courrèges: Growing up, your Selleb Sisters were often mistaken for twins. This is probably why (see below). Bought these 2 pairs of matching shorts during the ssense sale, BUT came across an even better deal for these shorts on Farfetch ($80…). Hate it when that happens, but someone pleaseee take advantage on our behalf!
<3

Grapefruit Breath Spray: Discovered this on our last trip to Asia (great flavor and no after taste!), and they sell it on Amazon. Classic… Less than $5! We bought a bunch and threw them in our bags instead of gum packs. Great when you’re on-the-go and happen to eat something with onion or garlic (aka all good meals).

Slip Pillowcases on eBay: It’s true. Slip pillow cases do help with skin (silk absorbs less moisture and thus keep your skin from over-drying) and hair (controls frizz). Slip is quite expensive — $100! But look on eBay NWT for a fraction of the price. ALWAYS submit an offer first and shoot your shot. Linking some that are currently on the market here here and here.

Weleda Diaper Rash Cream: OK why is a product that’s meant for a baby’s butt on our list this week? Because this product is a lifesaver for skin blemishes. Don’t knock it until you try it 😉 Make sure you get this version bc it’s ideal for sensitive skin.

Items in our cart
Coperni Black Horn Vest (Jennie from BLACKPINK wore something similar last week), Maje Silver Shorts (on sale for $70 (vs $350 elsewhere online); this is a STEAL), Miu Miu Riding Boots (amazing price — bring to the cobbler & get shoe taps!)
La Perla Pink Silk Top (so darling!), Dior Scarf (Try wearing it as a headscarf!!), Vintage Courrèges Denim Skirt (Courrèges is really having a moment), Edie Parker Cherry Clutch (someone needs to snag; it’s on super sale)
Gimaguas Palmtree Top (so fun and retro), Khaite Cream Jeans (LOVE this brand; 60% off), Bottega Lavender Mules (Follow this seller — she has tons of heavily discounted new Bottega & more)
SALES / DEALS
Amazon: Prime Day ends tonight! Major steals. Currently thinking about HigherDOSE sauna blanket (still a splurge but they never go on sale), Laneige lip mask (should stock up lol), Bioderma micellar water (always in need), iS Clinical Cleansing Complex (love this facewash which doubles as makeup remover), R+Co High Dive (cult hair classic), UBeauty Resurfacing Compound (WTF!). J. Hannah (they have some of the best nail polish shades on the market): 50% off select items with code ‘SURREAL’ until 11:59PM PDT. Jonathan Adler: 20% off sitewide (including already on sale items) until 11:59PM PDT with code ‘FORYOU’. Bergdorf Goodman: Up to 70% off sale, new items just added. Moschino: 40% off. éliou: 20% off select items. Net-a-Porter: Extra 15% off section (on top of sale). Mango: Up to 70% off sale — these pants are killer, this top looks super high-end, and this too. Farfetch: 60% off select items for a LIMITED time (whatever that means haha). Kind of random but Rat & Boa just offered Chloe £25 off (just over $30) any order with code 25-WXMBJPGH (must be used in 7 days) — up for grabs!
See you next week,
Selleb Sisters xoxo
